And if ye will receive it, this is Elias [2243], which was for to come.

And they said, Some say that thou art John the Baptist : some, Elias [2243]; and others, Jeremias, or one of the prophets.

And, behold, there appeared unto them Moses and Elias [2243] talking with him.

Then answered Peter, and said unto Jesus, Lord, it is good for us to be here : if thou wilt, let us make here three tabernacles; one for thee, and one for Moses, and one for Elias [2243].

And his disciples asked him, saying, Why then say the scribes that Elias [2243] must first come?

And Jesus answered and said unto them, Elias [2243] truly shall first come, and restore all things.

Elias [2243] was a man subject to like passions as we are, and he prayed earnestly that it might not rain : and it rained not on the earth by the space of three years and six months.
