The king answered and said to the Chaldeans, The thing [04406] is gone from me : if ye will not make known unto me the dream, with the interpretation thereof, ye shall be cut in pieces, and your houses shall be made a dunghill.

The king answered and said, I know of certainty that ye would gain the time, because ye see the thing [04406] is gone from me.

But if ye will not make known unto me the dream, there is but one decree for you: for ye have prepared lying and corrupt words [04406] to speak before me, till the time be changed : therefore tell me the dream, and I shall know that ye can shew me the interpretation thereof.

The Chaldeans answered before the king, and said, There is not a man upon the earth that can shew the king's matter [04406]: therefore there is no king, lord, nor ruler, that asked such things [04406] at any magician, or astrologer, or Chaldean.

And it is a rare thing [04406] that the king requireth, and there is none other that can shew it before the king, except the gods, whose dwelling is not with flesh.

He answered and said to Arioch the king's captain, Why is the decree so hasty from the king? Then Arioch made the thing [04406] known to Daniel.

Then Daniel went to his house, and made the thing [04406] known to Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah, his companions :

I thank thee, and praise thee, O thou God of my fathers, who hast given me wisdom and might, and hast made known unto me now what we desired of thee : for thou hast now made known unto us the king's matter [04406].

Therefore because the king's commandment [04406] was urgent, and the furnace exceeding hot, the flame of the fire slew those men that took up Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego.

Then Nebuchadnezzar spake, and said, Blessed be the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, who hath sent his angel, and delivered his servants that trusted in him, and have changed the king's word [04406], and yielded their bodies, that they might not serve nor worship any god, except their own God.

While the word [04406] was in the king's mouth, there fell a voice from heaven, saying, O king Nebuchadnezzar, to thee it is spoken; The kingdom is departed from thee.

The same hour was the thing [04406] fulfilled upon Nebuchadnezzar : and he was driven from men, and did eat grass as oxen, and his body was wet with the dew of heaven, till his hairs were grown like eagles ' feathers, and his nails like birds ' claws.

Now the queen, by reason of the words [04406] of the king and his lords, came into the banquet house : and the queen spake and said, O king, live for ever : let not thy thoughts trouble thee, nor let thy countenance be changed :

And now the wise men, the astrologers, have been brought in before me, that they should read this writing, and make known unto me the interpretation thereof: but they could not shew the interpretation of the thing [04406]:

This is the interpretation of the thing [04406]: MENE; God hath numbered thy kingdom, and finished it.

Then they came near, and spake before the king concerning the king's decree; Hast thou not signed a decree, that every man that shall ask a petition of any God or man within thirty days, save of thee, O king, shall be cast into the den of lions? The king answered and said, The thing [04406] is true, according to the law of the Medes and Persians, which altereth not.

Then the king, when he heard these words [04406], was sore displeased with himself, and set his heart on Daniel to deliver him: and he laboured till the going down of the sun to deliver him.

In the first year of Belshazzar king of Babylon Daniel had a dream and visions of his head upon his bed : then he wrote the dream, and told the sum of the matters [04406].

I beheld then because of the voice of the great words [04406] which the horn spake : I beheld even till the beast was slain, and his body destroyed, and given to the burning flame.

I came near unto one of them that stood by, and asked him the truth of all this. So he told me, and made me know the interpretation of the things [04406].

And he shall speak great words [04406] against the most High, and shall wear out the saints of the most High, and think to change times and laws : and they shall be given into his hand until a time and times and the dividing of time.

Hitherto is the end of the matter [04406]. As for me Daniel, my cogitations much troubled me, and my countenance changed in me : but I kept the matter [04406] in my heart.
