ANATHOTH One of the cities given to the priests, in Benjamin; identified by Robinson in Anata, some four miles north by east of Jerusalem, Jos 21:18; 1Ch 6:60. It was the birthplace of the prophet Jeremiah, Jer 1:1; 32:7. It's people, however, rejected his words, and sought his life, Jer 11:21.
