workmanship--literally, "a thing of His making"; "handiwork." Here the spiritual creation, not the physical, is referred to (Eph 2:8-9).

created--having been created (Eph 4:24; Psa 102:18; Isa 43:21; Co2 5:5, Co2 5:17).

unto good works--"for good works." "Good works" cannot be performed until we are new "created unto" them. Paul never calls the works of the law "good works." We are not saved by, but created unto, good works.

before ordained--Greek, "before made ready" (compare Joh 5:36). God marks out for each in His purposes beforehand, the particular good works, and the time and way which tie sees best. God both makes ready by His providence the opportunities for the works, and makes us ready for their performance (Joh 15:16; Ti2 2:21).

that we should walk in them--not "be saved" by them. Works do not justify, but the justified man works (Gal 5:22-25).

22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, long-suffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,
23 Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.
24 And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh, with the affections and lusts.
25 If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.
21 If a man therefore will cleanse himself from these, he will be a vessel to honor, sanctified and meet for the master's use, and prepared to every good work.
16 Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you.
36 But I have greater testimony than that of John: for the works which the Father hath given me to finish, the same works that I do, bear testimony concerning me, that the Father hath sent me.
17 Therefore, if any man is in Christ, he is a new creature: old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.
5 Now he that hath wrought us for this same thing is God, who also hath given to us the earnest of the Spirit.
21 This people have I formed for myself; they shall show forth my praise.
18 This shall be written for the generation to come: and the people which shall be created shall praise the LORD.
24 And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.
8 For by grace are ye saved, through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
9 Not by works, lest any man should boast.
4 Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.
4 According as he hath chosen us in him, before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love:
23 And that he might make known the riches of his glory on the vessels of mercy, which he had before prepared for glory,
17 Therefore, if any man is in Christ, he is a new creature: old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.
17 Therefore, if any man is in Christ, he is a new creature: old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.
24 And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.
22 For we know that the whole creation groaneth, and travaileth in pain together until now:
6 But from the beginning of the creation, God made them male and female.
11 Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory, and honor, and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created.
25 Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshiped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen.
19 Wherefore, let them that suffer according to the will of God, commit the keeping of their souls to him in well-doing, as to a faithful Creator.
3 All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.
