Zedekiah rebelled--His "anger" against Jerusalem, determining Him to "cast out" His people "from His presence" heretofore manifested there, led Him to permit Zedekiah to rebel (Kg2 23:26-27; compare Exo 9:12; Exo 10:1; Rom 9:18). That rebellion, being in violation of his oath "by God," was sure to bring down God's vengeance (Ch2 36:13; Eze 17:15-16, Eze 17:18). |

18 Seeing he despised [0959] the oath [0423] by breaking [06565] the covenant [01285], when, lo, he had given [05414] his hand [03027], and hath done [06213] all these things, he shall not escape [04422].
15 But he rebelled [04775] against him in sending [07971] his ambassadors [04397] into Egypt [04714], that they might give [05414] him horses [05483] and much [07227] people [05971]. Shall he prosper [06743]? shall he escape [04422] that doeth [06213] such things? or shall he break [06565] the covenant [01285], and be delivered [04422]?
