affliction--literally, "pressure," or, as in Psa 55:3, "oppression," which, laid on the

loins--the seat of strength (Deu 33:11), enfeebles the frame.

11 Bless [01288], LORD [03068], his substance [02428], and accept [07521] the work [06467] of his hands [03027]: smite [04272] through the loins [04975] of them that rise [06965] against him, and of them that hate [08130] him, that they rise [06965] not [04480] again [06965].
3 Because of the voice [06963] of the enemy [0341], because [06440] of the oppression [06125] of the wicked [07563]: for they cast [04131] iniquity [0205] upon me, and in wrath [0639] they hate [07852] me.
16 Lo now, his strength [03581] is in his loins [04975], and his force [0202] is in the navel [08306] of his belly [0990].
10 And the young men [03206] that were grown up [01431] with him spake [01696] unto him, saying [0559], Thus shalt thou speak [0559] unto this people [05971] that spake [01696] unto thee, saying [0559], Thy father [01] made [03513] our yoke [05923] heavy [03513], but make thou it lighter [07043] unto us; thus shalt thou say [01696] unto them, My little [06995] finger shall be thicker [05666] than my father's [01] loins [04975].
13 From above [04791] hath he sent [07971] fire [0784] into my bones [06106], and it prevaileth [07287] against them: he hath spread [06566] a net [07568] for my feet [07272], he hath turned [07725] me back [0268]: he hath made [05414] me desolate [08074] and faint [01739] all the day [03117].
15 The heathen [01471] are sunk down [02883] in the pit [07845] that they made [06213]: in the net [07568] which [02098] they hid [02934] is their own foot [07272] taken [03920].
