A Commentary, Critical, Practical, and Explanatory on the Old and New Testaments, by Robert Jamieson, A.R. Fausset and David Brown [1882]
he looketh--God. Rather, with UMBREIT, "Now he (the restored penitent) singeth joyfully (answering to "joy," Job 33:26; Psa 51:12) before men, and saith," &c. (Pro 25:20; Psa 66:16; Psa 116:14).

perverted--made the straight crooked: as Job had misrepresented God's character.

profited--literally, "was made even" to me; rather, "My punishment was not commensurate with my sin" (so Zophar, Job 11:6); the reverse of what Job heretofore said (Job 16:17; Psa 103:10; Ezr 9:13).

13 And after [0310] all that is come [0935] upon us for our evil [07451] deeds [04639], and for our great [01419] trespass [0819], seeing that thou our God [0430] hast punished [02820] us less [04295] than our iniquities [05771] deserve, and hast given [05414] us such deliverance [06413] as this;
10 He hath not dealt [06213] with us after our sins [02399]; nor rewarded [01580] us according to our iniquities [05771].
17 Not for any injustice [02555] in mine hands [03709]: also my prayer [08605] is pure [02134].
6 And that he would shew [05046] thee the secrets [08587] of wisdom [02451], that they are double [03718] to that which is [08454]! Know [03045] therefore that God [0433] exacteth [05382] of thee less than thine iniquity [05771] deserveth.
14 I will pay [07999] my vows [05088] unto the LORD [03068] now in the presence of all his people [05971].
16 Come [03212] and hear [08085], all ye that fear [03373] God [0430], and I will declare [05608] what he hath done [06213] for my soul [05315].
20 As he that taketh away [05710] a garment [0899] in cold [07135] weather [03117], and as vinegar [02558] upon nitre [05427], so is he that singeth [07891] songs [07892] to an heavy [07451] heart [03820].
12 Restore [07725] unto me the joy [08342] of thy salvation [03468]; and uphold [05564] me with thy free [05081] spirit [07307].
26 He shall pray [06279] unto God [0433], and he will be favourable [07521] unto him: and he shall see [07200] his face [06440] with joy [08643]: for he will render [07725] unto man [0582] his righteousness [06666].
