JOSEPH INTERPRETS PHARAOH'S DREAMS. (Gen 41:25-36)

Joseph said, . . . The dream . . . is one--They both pointed to the same event--a remarkable dispensation of seven years of unexampled abundance, to be followed by a similar period of unparalleled dearth. The repetition of the dream in two different forms was designed to show the absolute certainty and speedy arrival of this public crisis; the interpretation was accompanied by several suggestions of practical wisdom for meeting so great an emergency as was impending.

 And Joseph [03130] said [0559] unto Pharaoh [06547], The dream [02472] of Pharaoh [06547] is one [0259]: God [0430] hath shewed [05046] Pharaoh [06547] what he is about to do [06213].
 The seven [07651] good [02896] kine [06510] are seven [07651] years [08141]; and the seven [07651] good [02896] ears [07641] are seven [07651] years [08141]: the dream [02472] is one [0259].
 And the seven [07651] thin [07534] and ill favoured [07451] kine [06510] that came up [05927] after them [0310] are seven [07651] years [08141]; and the seven [07651] empty [07386] ears [07641] blasted [07710] with the east wind [06921] shall be seven [07651] years [08141] of famine [07458].
 This is the thing [01697] which I have spoken [01696] unto Pharaoh [06547]: What God [0430] is about to do [06213] he sheweth [07200] unto Pharaoh [06547].
 Behold, there come [0935] seven [07651] years [08141] of great [01419] plenty [07647] throughout all the land [0776] of Egypt [04714]:
 And there shall arise [06965] after them [0310] seven [07651] years [08141] of famine [07458]; and all the plenty [07647] shall be forgotten [07911] in the land [0776] of Egypt [04714]; and the famine [07458] shall consume [03615] the land [0776];
 And the plenty [07647] shall not be known [03045] in the land [0776] by reason [06440] of that famine [07458] following [0310] [03651]; for it shall be very [03966] grievous [03515].
 And for that the dream [02472] was doubled [08138] unto Pharaoh [06547] twice [06471]; it is because the thing [01697] is established [03559] by [05973] God [0430], and God [0430] will shortly [04116] bring it to pass [06213].
 Now therefore let Pharaoh [06547] look out [07200] a man [0376] discreet [0995] and wise [02450], and set [07896] him over the land [0776] of Egypt [04714].
 Let Pharaoh [06547] do [06213] this, and let him appoint [06485] officers [06496] over the land [0776], and take up the fifth part [02567] of the land [0776] of Egypt [04714] in the seven [07651] plenteous [07647] years [08141].
 And let them gather [06908] all the food [0400] of those good [02896] years [08141] that come [0935], and lay up [06651] corn [01250] under the hand [03027] of Pharaoh [06547], and let them keep [08104] food [0400] in the cities [05892].
 And that food [0400] shall be for store [06487] to the land [0776] against the seven [07651] years [08141] of famine [07458], which shall be in the land [0776] of Egypt [04714]; that the land [0776] perish [03772] not through the famine [07458].
