AGE AND DEATH OF SARAH. (Gen 23:1-2)

Sarah was an hundred and seven and twenty years old, &c.--Sarah is the only woman in Scripture whose age, death, and burial are mentioned, probably to do honor to the venerable mother of the Hebrew people.

1 And Sarah [08283] was an hundred [03967] [08141] and seven [07651] [08141] and twenty [06242] years [08141] old [02416]: these were the years [08141] of the life [02416] of Sarah [08283].
2 And Sarah [08283] died [04191] in Kirjatharba [07153]; the same is Hebron [02275] in the land [0776] of Canaan [03667]: and Abraham [085] came [0935] to mourn [05594] for Sarah [08283], and to weep [01058] for her.
15 And the name [08034] of Hebron [02275] before [06440] was Kirjatharba [07153]; which Arba was a great [01419] man [0120] among the Anakims [06062]. And the land [0776] had rest [08252] from war [04421].
27 And Jacob [03290] came [0935] unto Isaac [03327] his father [01] unto Mamre [04471], unto the city of Arbah [07153], which is Hebron [02275], where Abraham [085] and Isaac [03327] sojourned [01481].
19 So Abraham [085] returned [07725] unto his young men [05288], and they rose up [06965] and went [03212] together [03162] to Beersheba [0884]; and Abraham [085] dwelt [03427] at Beersheba [0884].
18 Then Abram [087] removed his tent [0167], and came [0935] and dwelt [03427] in the plain [0436] of Mamre [04471], which is in Hebron [02275], and built [01129] there an altar [04196] unto the LORD [03068].
6 Even as [5613] Sara [4564] obeyed [5219] Abraham [11], calling [2564] him [846] lord [2962]: whose [3739] daughters [5043] ye are [1096], as long as ye do well [15], and [2532] are [5399] not [3361] afraid [5399] with any [3367] amazement [4423].
15 And I will put [07896] enmity [0342] between thee and the woman [0802], and between thy seed [02233] and her seed [02233]; it shall bruise [07779] thy head [07218], and thou shalt bruise [07779] his heel [06119].
11 Through faith [4102] also [2532] Sara [4564] herself [846] received [2983] strength [1411] to [1519] conceive [2602] seed [4690], and [2532] was delivered of a child [5088] when she was past [3844] age [2540] [2244], because [1893] she judged [2233] him faithful [4103] who had promised [1861].
23 But [235] he [3303] who was of [1537] the bondwoman [3814] was born [1080] after [2596] the flesh [4561]; but [1161] he of [1537] the freewoman [1658] was by [1223] promise [1860].
22 For [1063] it is written [1125], that [3754] Abraham [11] had [2192] two [1417] sons [5207], the one [1520] by [1537] a bondmaid [3814], [2532] the other [1520] by [1537] a freewoman [1658].
