Conclusion of the reign of Ahaz. According to Ch2 28:27, he was buried in the city of David, but not in the sepulchres of the kings. |
7 Also they have shut up [05462] the doors [01817] of the porch [0197], and put out [03518] the lamps [05216], and have not burned [06999] incense [07004] nor offered [05927] burnt offerings [05930] in the holy [06944] place unto the God [0430] of Israel [03478].
3 He in the first [07223] year [08141] of his reign [04427], in the first [07223] month [02320], opened [06605] the doors [01817] of the house [01004] of the LORD [03068], and repaired [02388] them.
23 For he sacrificed [02076] unto the gods [0430] of Damascus [01834], which smote [05221] him: and he said [0559], Because the gods [0430] of the kings [04428] of Syria [0758] help [05826] them, therefore will I sacrifice [02076] to them, that they may help [05826] me. But they were the ruin [03782] of him, and of all Israel [03478].
24 And Ahaz [0271] gathered together [0622] the vessels [03627] of the house [01004] of God [0430], and cut in pieces [07112] the vessels [03627] of the house [01004] of God [0430], and shut up [05462] the doors [01817] of the house [01004] of the LORD [03068], and he made [06213] him altars [04196] in every corner [06438] of Jerusalem [03389].
25 And in every several city [05892] of Judah [03063] he made [06213] high places [01116] to burn incense [06999] unto other [0312] gods [0430], and provoked to anger [03707] the LORD [03068] God [0430] of his fathers [01].
10 Moreover the LORD [03068] spake [01696] again [03254] unto Ahaz [0271], saying [0559],
11 Ask [07592] thee a sign [0226] of the LORD [03068] thy God [0430]; ask [07592] it either in the depth [06009], or in the height [01361] above [04605].
12 But Ahaz [0271] said [0559], I will not ask [07592], neither will I tempt [05254] [0853] the LORD [03068].
13 And he said [0559], Hear [08085] ye now, O house [01004] of David [01732]; Is it a small thing [04592] for you to weary [03811] men [0582], but will ye weary [03811] my God [0430] also?
27 And Ahaz [0271] slept [07901] with his fathers [01], and they buried [06912] him in the city [05892], even in Jerusalem [03389]: but they brought [0935] him not into the sepulchres [06913] of the kings [04428] of Israel [03478]: and Hezekiah [03169] his son [01121] reigned [04427] in his stead.
