CHESTNUT-TREE | Ge 30:37, called by the Septuagint and Vulgate the plane tree, with which most modern expositors agree. The plane tree has a tall and stately trunk, with smooth bark, and branches spreading in every direction, covered with a profusion of glossy green leaves. It is nowhere more abundant and noble than in the plains of Assyria, Eze 31:8. |
