THE COVENANT BETWEEN HER AND THEM. (Jos 2:8-21)
she came up unto them upon the roof and said--Rahab's dialogue is full of interest, as showing the universal panic and consternation of the Canaanites on the one hand (Jos 24:11; Deu 2:25), and her strong convictions on the other, founded on a knowledge of the divine promise, and the stupendous miracles that had opened the way of the Israelites to the confines of the promised land. She was convinced of the supremacy of Jehovah, and her earnest stipulations for the preservation of her relatives amid the perils of the approaching invasion, attest the sincerity and strength of her faith. |

18 Behold, when we come [0935] into the land [0776], thou shalt bind [07194] this line [08615] of scarlet [08144] thread [02339] in the window [02474] which thou didst let us down by [03381]: and thou shalt bring [0622] thy father [01], and thy mother [0517], and thy brethren [0251], and all thy father's [01] household [01004], home [01004] unto thee.
19 And it shall be, that whosoever [0834] shall go out [03318] of the doors [01817] of thy house [01004] into the street [02351], his blood [01818] shall be upon his head [07218], and we will be guiltless [05355]: and whosoever shall be with thee in the house [01004], his blood [01818] shall be on our head [07218], if any hand [03027] be upon him.
20 And if thou utter [05046] this our business [01697], then we will be quit [05355] of thine oath [07621] which thou hast made us to swear [07650].
21 And she said [0559], According unto your words [01697], so be it. And she sent them away [07971], and they departed [03212]: and she bound [07194] the scarlet [08144] line [08615] in the window [02474].
