Jos 15:8 Strong Concordance And the border [01366] went up [05927] by the valley [01516] of the son [01121] of Hinnom [02011] unto the south [05045] side [03802] of the Jebusite [02983]; the same is Jerusalem [03389]: and the border [01366] went up [05927] to the top [07218] of the mountain [02022] that lieth before [06440] the valley [01516] of Hinnom [02011] westward [03220], which is at the end [07097] of the valley [06010] of the giants [07497] northward [06828]:
King James And the border went up by the valley of the son of Hinnom unto the south side of the Jebusite; the same is Jerusalem: and the border went up to the top of the mountain that lieth before the valley of Hinnom westward, which is at the end of the valley of the giants northward:

Notes on the Bible, by Albert Barnes, [1834]
The valley of the son of Hinnom - This valley begins on the west of Jerusalem at the road to Joppa, and turning southeastward round the foot of Mount Zion joins the deeper valley of Kedron on the south of the city. It was in this ravine, more particularly at Tophet in the more wild and precipitous part of it toward the east, that the later kings of Judah offered the sacrifices of children to Moloch (Ch2 28:3; Ch2 33:6, etc.). After these places had been defiled by Josiah, Tophet and the whole valley of Hinnom were held in abomination by the Jews, and the name of the latter was used to denote the place of eternal torment Mat 5:22. The Greek term Gehenna (γεέννα geenna) is in fact formed from the Hebrew הנם גיא gay' hı̂nnôm, "valley of Hinnom." Hinnom is regarded either as the name of some ancient hero, or as an appellative ( "groaning" or "moaning"), bestowed on the spot because of the cries of the victims here offered to Moloch, and of the drums with which those cries were drowned.

The valley of the giants - Rather "the plain of Rephaim." This plain, named after an ancient and gigantic tribe of the land Gen 14:5, lies southwestward of Jerusalem, and is terminated by a slight rocky ridge forming the brow of the valley of Hinnom. The valley is fertile Isa 17:5 and broad, and has been on more than one occasion the camping ground for armies operating against Jerusalem Sa2 5:18, Sa2 5:22; Sa2 23:13.

13 And three [07969] [07970] of the thirty [07970] chief [07218] went down [03381], and came [0935] to David [01732] in the harvest time [07105] unto the cave [04631] of Adullam [05725]: and the troop [02416] of the Philistines [06430] pitched [02583] in the valley [06010] of Rephaim [07497].
22 And the Philistines [06430] came up [05927] yet again [03254], and spread [05203] themselves in the valley [06010] of Rephaim [07497].
18 The Philistines [06430] also came [0935] and spread [05203] themselves in the valley [06010] of Rephaim [07497].
5 And it shall be as when the harvestman [07105] gathereth [0622] the corn [07054], and reapeth [07114] the ears [07641] with his arm [02220]; and it shall be as he that gathereth [03950] ears [07641] in the valley [06010] of Rephaim [07497].
5 And in the fourteenth [06240] [0702] year [08141] came [0935] Chedorlaomer [03540], and the kings [04428] that were with him, and smote [05221] the Rephaims [07497] in Ashteroth Karnaim [06255], and the Zuzims [02104] in Ham [01990], and the Emims [0368] in Shaveh Kiriathaim [07741],
22 But [1161] I [1473] say [3004] unto you [5213], That [3754] whosoever [3956] is angry [3710] with his [846] brother [80] without a cause [1500] shall be [2071] in danger [1777] of the judgment [2920]: and [1161] whosoever [3739] [302] shall say [2036] to his [846] brother [80], Raca [4469], shall be [2071] in danger [1777] of the council [4892]: but [1161] whosoever [3739] [302] shall say [2036], Thou fool [3474], shall be [2071] in danger [1777] of [1519] hell [1067] fire [4442].
6 And he caused [05674] his children [01121] to pass through [05674] the fire [0784] in the valley [01516] of the son [01121] of Hinnom [02011]: also he observed times [06049], and used enchantments [05172], and used witchcraft [03784], and dealt [06213] with a familiar spirit [0178], and with wizards [03049]: he wrought [06213] much [07235] evil [07451] in the sight [05869] of the LORD [03068], to provoke him to anger [03707].
3 Moreover he burnt incense [06999] in the valley [01516] of the son [01121] of Hinnom [02011], and burnt [01197] his children [01121] in the fire [0784], after the abominations [08441] of the heathen [01471] whom the LORD [03068] had cast out [03423] before [06440] the children [01121] of Israel [03478].
6 Then Achish [0397] gave [05414] him Ziklag [06860] that day [03117]: wherefore Ziklag [06860] pertaineth unto the kings [04428] of Judah [03063] unto this day [03117].
16 And the border [01366] came down [03381] to the end [07097] of the mountain [02022] that lieth before [06440] the valley [01516] of the son [01121] of Hinnom [02011], and which is in the valley [06010] of the giants [07497] on the north [06828], and descended [03381] to the valley [01516] of Hinnom [02011], to the side [03802] of Jebusi [02983] on the south [05045], and descended [03381] to Enrogel [05883],
13 And Jehoash [03060] king [04428] of Israel [03478] took [08610] Amaziah [0558] king [04428] of Judah [03063], the son [01121] of Jehoash [03060] the son [01121] of Ahaziah [0274], at Bethshemesh [01053], and came [0935] to Jerusalem [03389], and brake down [06555] the wall [02346] of Jerusalem [03389] from the gate [08179] of Ephraim [0669] unto the corner [06438] gate [08179], four [0702] hundred [03967] cubits [0520].
7 Now when Ebedmelech [05663] the Ethiopian [03569], one [0376] of the eunuchs [05631] which was in the king's [04428] house [01004], heard [08085] that they had put [05414] Jeremiah [03414] in the dungeon [0953]; the king [04428] then sitting [03427] in the gate [08179] of Benjamin [01144];
13 And when he was in the gate [08179] of Benjamin [01144], a captain [01167] of the ward [06488] was there, whose name [08034] was Irijah [03376], the son [01121] of Shelemiah [08018], the son [01121] of Hananiah [02608]; and he took [08610] Jeremiah [03414] the prophet [05030], saying [0559], Thou fallest away [05307] to the Chaldeans [03778].
12 Then Jeremiah [03414] went forth [03318] out of Jerusalem [03389] to go [03212] into the land [0776] of Benjamin [01144], to separate [02505] himself thence in the midst [08432] of the people [05971].
12 And of Benjamin [01144] he said [0559], The beloved [03039] of the LORD [03068] shall dwell [07931] in safety [0983] by him; and the LORD shall cover [02653] him all the day [03117] long, and he shall dwell [07931] between his shoulders [03802].
2 The LORD [03068] loveth [0157] the gates [08179] of Zion [06726] more than all the dwellings [04908] of Jacob [03290].
69 And he built [01129] his sanctuary [04720] like high [07311] palaces, like the earth [0776] which he hath established [03245] for ever [05769].
68 But chose [0977] the tribe [07626] of Judah [03063], the mount [02022] Zion [06726] which he loved [0157].
21 And the children [01121] of Benjamin [01144] did not drive out [03423] the Jebusites [02983] that inhabited [03427] Jerusalem [03389]; but the Jebusites [02983] dwell [03427] with the children [01121] of Benjamin [01144] in Jerusalem [03389] unto this day [03117].
11 Which [01992] also were accounted [02803] giants [07497], as the Anakims [06062]; but the Moabites [04125] call [07121] them Emims [0368].
7 For the LORD [03068] thy God [0430] hath blessed [01288] thee in all the works [04639] of thy hand [03027]: he knoweth [03045] thy walking [03212] through this great [01419] wilderness [04057]: these forty [0705] years [08141] the LORD [03068] thy God [0430] hath been with thee; thou hast lacked [02637] nothing [01697].
5 And in the fourteenth [06240] [0702] year [08141] came [0935] Chedorlaomer [03540], and the kings [04428] that were with him, and smote [05221] the Rephaims [07497] in Ashteroth Karnaim [06255], and the Zuzims [02104] in Ham [01990], and the Emims [0368] in Shaveh Kiriathaim [07741],
4 There were giants [05303] in the earth [0776] in those days [03117]; and also after [0310] that [03651], when [0834] the sons [01121] of God [0430] came in [0935] unto the daughters [01323] of men [0120], and they bare [03205] children to them, the same [01992] became mighty men [01368] which were of old [05769], men [0582] of renown [08034].
9 And [2532] if [1487] thine [4675] eye [3788] offend [4624] thee [4571], pluck [1807] it [846] out [1807], and [2532] cast [906] it from [575] thee [4675]: it is [2076] better [2570] for thee [4671] to enter [1525] into [1519] life [2222] with one eye [3442], rather than [2228] having [2192] two [1417] eyes [3788] to be cast [906] into [1519] hell [1067] fire [4442].
28 And [2532] fear [5399] [575] not [3361] them which [3588] kill [615] the body [4983], but [1161] are [1410] not [3361] able [1410] to kill [615] the soul [5590]: but [1161] rather [3123] fear [5399] him which [3588] is able [1410] to destroy [622] both [2532] soul [5590] and [2532] body [4983] in [1722] hell [1067].
30 And [2532] if [1487] thy [4675] right [1188] hand [5495] offend [4624] thee [4571], cut [1581] it [846] off [1581], and [2532] cast [906] it from [575] thee [4675]: for [1063] it is profitable [4851] for thee [4671] that [2443] one [1520] of thy [4675] members [3196] should perish [622], and [2532] not [3361] that thy [4675] whole [3650] body [4983] should be cast [906] into [1519] hell [1067].
29 And [1161] if [1487] thy [4675] right [1188] eye [3788] offend [4624] thee [4571], pluck [1807] it [846] out [1807], and [2532] cast [906] it from [575] thee [4675]: for [1063] it is profitable [4851] for thee [4671] that [2443] one [1520] of thy [4675] members [3196] should perish [622], and [2532] not [3361] that thy [4675] whole [3650] body [4983] should be cast [906] into [1519] hell [1067].
32 Therefore, behold, the days [03117] come [0935], saith [05002] the LORD [03068], that it shall no more be called [0559] Tophet [08612], nor the valley [01516] of the son [01121] of Hinnom [02011], but the valley [01516] of slaughter [02028]: for they shall bury [06912] in Tophet [08612], till there be no [0369] place [04725].
10 And he defiled [02930] Topheth [08612], which is in the valley [01516] of the children [01121] [01121] of Hinnom [02011], that no man [0376] might make his son [01121] or his daughter [01323] to pass through [05674] the fire [0784] to Molech [04432].
