A Commentary, Critical, Practical, and Explanatory on the Old and New Testaments, by Robert Jamieson, A.R. Fausset and David Brown [1882]
rejoice not, &c.--that is, not so much. So far from forbidding it, He takes occasion from it to tell them what had been passing in His own mind. But as power over demons was after all intoxicating, He gives them a higher joy to balance it, the joy of having their names in Heaven's register (Phi 4:3).

3 And [2532] I intreat [2065] thee [4571] also [2532], true [1103] yokefellow [4805], help [4815] those women [846] which [3748] laboured [4866] with me [3427] in [1722] the gospel [2098], with [3326] Clement [2815] also [2532], and [2532] with other [3062] my [3450] fellowlabourers [4904], whose [3739] names [3686] are in [1722] the book [976] of life [2222].
5 He that overcometh [3528], the same [3778] shall be clothed [4016] in [1722] white [3022] raiment [2440]; and [2532] I will [1813] not [3364] blot out [1813] his [846] name [3686] out of [1537] the book [976] of life [2222], but [2532] I will confess [1843] his [846] name [3686] before [1799] my [3450] Father [3962], and [2532] before [1799] his [846] angels [32].
14 Let me alone [07503], that I may destroy [08045] them, and blot out [04229] their name [08034] from under heaven [08064]: and I will make [06213] of [0854] thee a nation [01471] mightier [06099] and greater [07227] than they.
32 Yet now, if thou wilt forgive [05375] their sin [02403]--; and if not, blot [04229] me, I pray thee, out of thy book [05612] which thou hast written [03789].
28 Let them be blotted [04229] out of the book [05612] of the living [02416], and not be written [03789] with the righteous [06662].

27 And the LORD [03068] said [01696] not that he would blot out [04229] the name [08034] of Israel [03478] from under heaven [08064]: but he saved [03467] them by the hand [03027] of Jeroboam [03379] the son [01121] of Joash [03101].
20 The LORD [03068] will [014] not spare [05545] him, but then the anger [0639] of the LORD [03068] and his jealousy [07068] shall smoke [06225] against that man [0376], and all the curses [0423] that are written [03789] in this book [05612] shall lie [07257] upon him, and the LORD [03068] shall blot out [04229] his name [08034] from under heaven [08064].
19 Therefore it shall be, when the LORD [03068] thy God [0430] hath given thee rest [05117] from all thine enemies [0341] round about [05439], in the land [0776] which the LORD [03068] thy God [0430] giveth [05414] thee for an inheritance [05159] to possess [03423] it, that thou shalt blot out [04229] the remembrance [02143] of Amalek [06002] from under heaven [08064]; thou shalt not forget [07911] it.
