Eze 3:20 Strong Concordance Again [07725], When a righteous [06662] man doth turn [07725] from his righteousness [06664], and commit [06213] iniquity [05766], and I lay [05414] a stumblingblock [04383] before [06440] him, he shall die [04191]: because thou hast not given him warning [02094], he shall die [04191] in his sin [02403], and his righteousness [06666] which he hath done [06213] shall not be remembered [02142]; but his blood [01818] will I require [01245] at thine hand [03027].
King James Again, When a righteous man doth turn from his righteousness, and commit iniquity, and I lay a stumblingblock before him, he shall die: because thou hast not given him warning, he shall die in his sin, and his righteousness which he hath done shall not be remembered; but his blood will I require at thine hand.

A Commentary, Critical, Practical, and Explanatory on the Old and New Testaments, by Robert Jamieson, A.R. Fausset and David Brown [1882]
righteous . . . turn from . . . righteousness--not one "righteous" as to the root and spirit of regeneration (Psa 89:33; Psa 138:8; Isa 26:12; Isa 27:3; Joh 10:28; Phi 1:6), but as to its outward appearance and performances. So the "righteous" (Pro 18:17; Mat 9:13). As in Eze 3:19 the minister is required to lead the wicked to good, so in Eze 3:20 he is to confirm the well-disposed in their duty.

commit iniquity--that is, give himself up wholly to it (Jo1 3:8-9), for even the best often fall, but not wilfully and habitually.

I lay a stumbling-block--not that God tempts to sin (Jam 1:13-14), but God gives men over to judicial blindness, and to their own corruptions (Psa 9:16-17; Psa 94:23) when they "like not to retain God in their knowledge" (Rom 1:24, Rom 1:26); just as, on the contrary, God makes "the way of the righteous plain" (Pro 4:11-12; Pro 15:19), so that they do "not stumble." CALVIN refers "stumbling-block" not to the guilt, but to its punishment; "I bring ruin on him." The former is best. Ahab, after a kind of righteousness (Kg1 21:27-29), relapsed and consulted lying spirits in false prophets; so God permitted one of these to be his "stumbling-block," both to sin and its corresponding punishment (Kg1 22:21-23).

his blood will I require-- (Heb 13:17).

17 Obey [3982] them that have the rule [2233] over you [5216], and [2532] submit yourselves [5226]: for [1063] they [846] watch [69] for [5228] your [5216] souls [5590], as [5613] they that must give [591] account [3056], that [2443] they may do [4160] it [5124] with [3326] joy [5479], and [2532] not [3361] with grief [4727]: for [1063] that [5124] is unprofitable [255] for you [5213].
21 And there came forth [03318] a spirit [07307], and stood [05975] before [06440] the LORD [03068], and said [0559], I will persuade [06601] him.
22 And the LORD [03068] said [0559] unto him, Wherewith? And he said [0559], I will go forth [03318], and I will be a lying [08267] spirit [07307] in the mouth [06310] of all his prophets [05030]. And he said [0559], Thou shalt persuade [06601] him, and prevail [03201] also: go forth [03318], and do [06213] so.
23 Now therefore, behold, the LORD [03068] hath put [05414] a lying [08267] spirit [07307] in the mouth [06310] of all these thy prophets [05030], and the LORD [03068] hath spoken [01696] evil [07451] concerning thee.
27 And it came to pass, when Ahab [0256] heard [08085] those words [01697], that he rent [07167] his clothes [0899], and put [07760] sackcloth [08242] upon his flesh [01320], and fasted [06684], and lay [07901] in sackcloth [08242], and went [01980] softly [0328].
28 And the word [01697] of the LORD [03068] came to Elijah [0452] the Tishbite [08664], saying [0559],
29 Seest [07200] thou how Ahab [0256] humbleth [03665] himself before [06440] me? because [03282] he humbleth [03665] himself before [06440] me, I will not bring [0935] the evil [07451] in his days [03117]: but in his son's [01121] days [03117] will I bring [0935] the evil [07451] upon his house [01004].
19 The way [01870] of the slothful [06102] man is as an hedge [04881] of thorns [02312]: but the way [0734] of the righteous [03477] is made plain [05549].
11 I have taught [03384] thee in the way [01870] of wisdom [02451]; I have led [01869] thee in right [03476] paths [04570].
12 When thou goest [03212], thy steps [06806] shall not be straitened [03334]; and when thou runnest [07323], thou shalt not stumble [03782].
26 For [1223] this [5124] cause God [2316] gave [3860] them [846] up [3860] unto [1519] vile [819] affections [3806]: for [1063] even [5037] their [846] women [2338] did change [3337] the natural [5446] use [5540] into [1519] that which is against [3844] nature [5449]:
24 Wherefore [1352] God [2316] also [2532] gave [3860] them [846] up [3860] to [1519] uncleanness [167] through [1722] the lusts [1939] of their own [846] hearts [2588], to dishonour [818] their own [846] bodies [4983] between [1722] themselves [1438]:
23 And he shall bring [07725] upon them their own iniquity [0205], and shall cut them off [06789] in their own wickedness [07451]; yea, the LORD [03068] our God [0430] shall cut them off [06789].
16 The LORD [03068] is known [03045] by the judgment [04941] which he executeth [06213]: the wicked [07563] is snared [05367] in the work [06467] of his own hands [03709]. Higgaion [01902]. Selah [05542].
17 The wicked [07563] shall be turned [07725] into hell [07585], and all the nations [01471] that forget [07913] God [0430].
13 Let [3004] no man [3367] say [3004] when he is tempted [3985], [3754] I am tempted [3985] of [575] God [2316]: for [1063] God [2316] cannot be tempted [551] [2076] with evil [2556], neither [1161] tempteth [3985] he [846] [3985] any man [3762]:
14 But [1161] every man [1538] is tempted [3985], when he is drawn away [1828] of [5259] his own [2398] lust [1939], and [2532] enticed [1185].
8 He that committeth [4160] sin [266] is [2076] of [1537] the devil [1228]; for [3754] the devil [1228] sinneth [264] from [575] the beginning [746]. For [1519] this purpose [5124] the Son [5207] of God [2316] was manifested [5319], that [2443] he might destroy [3089] the works [2041] of the devil [1228].
9 Whosoever [3956] is born [1080] of [1537] God [2316] doth [4160] not [3756] commit sin [266]; for [3754] his [846] seed [4690] remaineth [3306] in [1722] him [846]: and [2532] he cannot [3756] [1410] sin [264], because [3754] he is born [1080] of [1537] God [2316].
20 Again [07725], When a righteous [06662] man doth turn [07725] from his righteousness [06664], and commit [06213] iniquity [05766], and I lay [05414] a stumblingblock [04383] before [06440] him, he shall die [04191]: because thou hast not given him warning [02094], he shall die [04191] in his sin [02403], and his righteousness [06666] which he hath done [06213] shall not be remembered [02142]; but his blood [01818] will I require [01245] at thine hand [03027].
19 Yet if thou warn [02094] the wicked [07563], and he turn [07725] not from his wickedness [07562], nor from his wicked [07563] way [01870], he shall die [04191] in his iniquity [05771]; but thou hast delivered [05337] thy soul [05315].
13 But [1161] go ye [4198] and learn [3129] what [5101] that meaneth [2076], I will [2309] have mercy [1656], and [2532] not [3756] sacrifice [2378]: for [1063] I am [2064] not [3756] come [2064] to call [2564] the righteous [1342], but [235] sinners [268] to [1519] repentance [3341].
17 He that is first [07223] in his own cause [07379] seemeth just [06662]; but his neighbour [07453] cometh [0935] [0935] and searcheth [02713] him.
6 Being confident [3982] of this [5124] very thing [846], that [3754] he which hath begun [1728] a good [18] work [2041] in [1722] you [5213] will perform [2005] it until [891] the day [2250] of Jesus [2424] Christ [5547]:
28 And I [2504] give [1325] unto them [846] eternal [166] life [2222]; and [2532] they shall [622] never [3364] [1519] [165] perish [622], neither [2532] [3756] shall [726] any [5100] man pluck [726] them [846] out of [1537] my [3450] hand [5495].
3 I the LORD [03068] do keep [05341] it; I will water [08248] it every moment [07281]: lest any hurt [06485] it, I will keep [05341] it night [03915] and day [03117].
12 LORD [03068], thou wilt ordain [08239] peace [07965] for us: for thou also hast wrought [06466] all our works [04639] in us.
8 The LORD [03068] will perfect [01584] that which concerneth me: thy mercy [02617], O LORD [03068], endureth for ever [05769]: forsake [07503] not the works [04639] of thine own hands [03027].
33 Nevertheless my lovingkindness [02617] will I not utterly take [06331] from him, nor suffer my faithfulness [0530] to fail [08266].
