A Commentary, Critical, Practical, and Explanatory on the Old and New Testaments, by Robert Jamieson, A.R. Fausset and David Brown [1882]
Job wishes to be kept hidden in the grave until God's wrath against him shall have passed away. So while God's wrath is visiting the earth for the abounding apostasy which is to precede the second coming, God's people shall be hidden against the resurrection glory (Isa 26:19-21).

set time--a decreed time (Act 1:7).

7 And [1161] he said [2036] unto [4314] them [846], It is [2076] not [3756] for you [5216] to know [1097] the times [5550] or [2228] the seasons [2540], which [3739] the Father [3962] hath put [5087] in [1722] his own [2398] power [1849].
19 Thy dead [04191] men shall live [02421], together with my dead body [05038] shall they arise [06965]. Awake [06974] and sing [07442], ye that dwell [07931] in dust [06083]: for thy dew [02919] is as the dew [02919] of herbs [0219], and the earth [0776] shall cast out [05307] the dead [07496].
20 Come [03212], my people [05971], enter [0935] thou into thy chambers [02315], and shut [05462] thy doors [01817] about thee: hide [02247] thyself as it were for a little [04592] moment [07281], until the indignation [02195] be overpast [05674].
21 For, behold, the LORD [03068] cometh out [03318] of his place [04725] to punish [06485] the inhabitants [03427] of the earth [0776] for their iniquity [05771]: the earth [0776] also shall disclose [01540] her blood [01818], and shall no more cover [03680] her slain [02026].
20 Wherefore is light [0216] given [05414] to him that is in misery [06001], and life [02416] unto the bitter [04751] in soul [05315];
21 Which long [02442] for death [04194], but it cometh not; and dig [02658] for it more than for hid treasures [04301];
22 Which rejoice [08056] exceedingly [01524], and are glad [07797], when they can find [04672] the grave [06913]?
19 And they shall go [0935] into the holes [04631] of the rocks [06697], and into the caves [04247] of the earth [06083], for [06440] fear [06343] of the LORD [03068], and for the glory [01926] of his majesty [01347], when he ariseth [06965] to shake terribly [06206] the earth [0776].
14 Therefore hell [07585] hath enlarged [07337] herself [05315], and opened [06473] her mouth [06310] without measure [02706]: and their glory [01926], and their multitude [01995], and their pomp [07588], and he that rejoiceth [05938], shall descend [03381] into it.
11 Why died [04191] I not from the womb [07358]? why did I not give up the ghost [01478] when I came out [03318] of the belly [0990]?
5 Yea also, because he transgresseth [0898] by wine [03196], he is a proud [03093] man [01397], neither keepeth at home [05115], who enlargeth [07337] his desire [05315] as hell [07585], and is as death [04194], and cannot be satisfied [07646], but gathereth [0622] unto him all nations [01471], and heapeth [06908] unto him all people [05971]:
11 Thus saith [0559] the LORD [03068]; For three [07969] transgressions [06588] of Edom [0123], and for four [0702], I will not turn away [07725] the punishment thereof; because he did pursue [07291] his brother [0251] with the sword [02719], and did cast off [07843] all pity [07356], and his anger [0639] did tear [02963] perpetually [05703], and he kept [08104] his wrath [05678] for ever [05331]:
17 That he may withdraw [05493] man [0120] from his purpose [04639], and hide [03680] pride [01466] from man [01397].
24 There is nothing better [02896] for a man [0120], than that he should eat [0398] and drink [08354], and that he should make his soul [05315] enjoy [07200] good [02896] in his labour [05999]. This [02090] also I saw [07200], that it was from the hand [03027] of God [0430].
11 And his brethren [0251] envied [07065] him; but his father [01] observed [08104] the saying [01697].
27 Thou puttest [07760] my feet [07272] also in the stocks [05465], and lookest narrowly [08104] unto all my paths [0734]; thou settest a print [02707] upon the heels [08328] of my feet [07272].
21 For now ye are nothing; ye see [07200] my casting down [02866], and are afraid [03372].
16 For now thou numberest [05608] my steps [06806]: dost thou not watch [08104] over my sin [02403]?
8 In a little [08241] wrath [07110] I hid [05641] my face [06440] from thee for a moment [07281]; but with everlasting [05769] kindness [02617] will I have mercy [07355] on thee, saith [0559] the LORD [03068] thy Redeemer [01350].
3 Is it good [02895] unto thee that thou shouldest oppress [06231], that thou shouldest despise [03988] the work [03018] of thine hands [03709], and shine [03313] upon the counsel [06098] of the wicked [07563]?
20 He hath put forth [07971] his hands [03027] against such as be at peace [07965] with him: he hath broken [02490] his covenant [01285].
17 Thou renewest [02318] thy witnesses [05707] against me, and increasest [07235] thine indignation [03708] upon me [05978]; changes [02487] and war [06635] are against me.
11 For, lo, the winter [05638] is past [05674], the rain [01653] is over [02498] and gone [01980];
18 And the idols [0457] he shall utterly [03632] abolish [02498].
7 Yet man [0120] is born [03205] unto trouble [05999], as the sparks [01121] [07565] fly [05774] upward [01361].
1 Is there not an appointed time [06635] to man [0582] upon earth [0776]? are not his days [03117] also like the days [03117] of an hireling [07916]?
5 Seeing [0518] his days [03117] are determined [02782], the number [04557] of his months [02320] are with thee, thou hast appointed [06213] his bounds [02706] that he cannot pass [05674];
13 If God [0433] will not withdraw [07725] his anger [0639], the proud [07293] helpers [05826] do stoop [07817] under him.
20 Come [03212], my people [05971], enter [0935] thou into thy chambers [02315], and shut [05462] thy doors [01817] about thee: hide [02247] thyself as it were for a little [04592] moment [07281], until the indignation [02195] be overpast [05674].
5 For in the time [03117] of trouble [07451] he shall hide [06845] me in his pavilion [05520]: in the secret [05643] of his tabernacle [0168] shall he hide [05641] me; he shall set me up [07311] upon a rock [06697].
21 Blessed [01288] be the LORD [03068]: for he hath shewed me his marvellous [06381] kindness [02617] in a strong [04692] city [05892].
3 Oh that [05414] I knew [03045] where I might find [04672] him! that I might come [0935] even to his seat [08499]!
8 Oh that I might have [0935] my request [07596]; and that God [0433] would grant [05414] me the thing that I long for [08615]!
1 And God [0430] remembered [02142] Noah [05146], and every living thing [02416], and all the cattle [0929] that was with him in the ark [08392]: and God [0430] made [05674] a wind [07307] to pass [05674] over [05921] the earth [0776], and the waters [04325] asswaged [07918];
