A Commentary, Critical, Practical, and Explanatory on the Old and New Testaments, by Robert Jamieson, A.R. Fausset and David Brown [1882]
Go, say . . . Thou mayest certainly recover--There was no contradiction in this message. This part was properly the answer to Ben-hadad's inquiry [Kg2 8:9]. The second part was intended for Hazael, who, like an artful and ambitious courtier, reported only as much of the prophet's statement as suited his own views (compare Kg2 8:14).

And the king [04428] said [0559] unto him, Micaiah [04321], shall we go [03212] against Ramothgilead [07433] [01568] to battle [04421], or shall we forbear [02308]? And he answered [0559] him, Go [05927], and prosper [06743]: for the LORD [03068] shall deliver [05414] it into the hand [03027] of the king [04428].

8 Behold, the eyes [05869] of the Lord [0136] GOD [03069] are upon the sinful [02403] kingdom [04467], and I will destroy [08045] it from off the face [06440] of the earth [0127]; saving [0657] that I will not utterly [08045] destroy [08045] the house [01004] of Jacob [03290], saith [05002] the LORD [03068].
