thanks . . . for all things--even for adversities; also for blessings, unknown as well as known (Col 3:17; Th1 5:18).

unto God and the Father--the Fountain of every blessing in Creation, Providence, Election, and Redemption.

Lord Jesus Christ--by whom all things, even distresses, become ours (Rom 8:35, Rom 8:37; Co1 3:20-23).

20 And again, The Lord knoweth the thoughts of the wise, that they are vain.
21 Therefore let no man glory in men. For all things are yours;
22 Whether Paul, or Apollos, or Cephas, or the world, or life, or death, or things present, or things to come; all are yours;
23 And ye are Christ's; and Christ is God's.
37 Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.
35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?
18 In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.
17 And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him.
