Jer 15:9 King James She that hath borne seven languisheth: she hath given up the ghost; her sun is gone down while it was yet day: she hath been ashamed and confounded: and the residue of them will I deliver to the sword before their enemies, saith the LORD.

borne seven-- (Sa1 2:5). Seven being the perfect number indicates full fruitfulness.

languisheth--because not even one is left of all her sons (Jer 15:8).

sun is gone down while . . . yet day--Fortune deserts her at the very height of her prosperity (Amo 8:9).

she . . . ashamed--The mothers (she being collective) are put to the shame of disappointed hopes through the loss of all their children.

9 And it shall come to pass in that day, saith the Lord GOD, that I will cause the sun to go down at noon, and I will darken the earth in the clear day:
8 Their widows are increased to me above the sand of the seas: I have brought upon them against the mother of the young men a spoiler at noonday: I have caused him to fall upon it suddenly, and terrors upon the city.
5 They that were full have hired out themselves for bread; and they that were hungry ceased: so that the barren hath born seven; and she that hath many children is waxed feeble.
7 And I will fan them with a fan in the gates of the land; I will bereave them of children, I will destroy my people, since they return not from their ways.
