The extent of the conquests.

They that dwell in the wilderness--the wild, untutored tribes of deserts.

bow . . . dust--in profound submission. The remotest and wealthiest nations shall acknowledge Him (compare Psa 45:12).

12 And the daughter of Tyre shall be there with a gift; even the rich among the people shall intreat thy favour.

13 Behold the land of the Chaldeans; this people was not, till the Assyrian founded it for them that dwell in the wilderness: they set up the towers thereof, they raised up the palaces thereof; and he brought it to ruin.
39 Therefore the wild beasts of the desert with the wild beasts of the islands shall dwell there, and the owls shall dwell therein: and it shall be no more inhabited for ever; neither shall it be dwelt in from generation to generation.
14 The wild beasts of the desert shall also meet with the wild beasts of the island, and the satyr shall cry to his fellow; the screech owl also shall rest there, and find for herself a place of rest.
