night--as well as day. Past favors assure him of future, and hence he presses earnestly near to God, whose power sustains him (Psa 17:8; Psa 60:5).

8 Keep me as the apple of the eye, hide me under the shadow of thy wings,
38 And if he shall come in the second watch, or come in the third watch, and find them so, blessed are those servants.
25 And in the fourth watch of the night Jesus went unto them, walking on the sea.
2 But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night.
8 Yet the LORD will command his lovingkindness in the daytime, and in the night his song shall be with me, and my prayer unto the God of my life.
