2Ki 4:31 King James And Gehazi passed on before them, and laid the staff upon the face of the child; but there was neither voice, nor hearing. Wherefore he went again to meet him, and told him, saying, The child is not awaked.

There was neither voice nor hearing - Compare Kg1 18:29.

The child is not awakened - See Kg2 4:20. The euphemism by which death is spoken of as a sleep was already familiar to the Jews (see Kg1 1:21 note).
